So along with the steady growth of Getglue users, Getglue itself expands its wings to penetrate customers from all over the world. Recently, Getglue reached 2 million users in only 4 years and now prepares to target a spanish speaking market. They will start off with Latin America because management team saw there was a potential market in such countries.
So what are the benefits/threads from doing so? Apart from its location which is close to the US, Latin America could be potential target to generate more revenues for GetGlue. Local TV shows or media companies could partner up with getglue to promote their new shows to increase the awareness within the US or other countries through getglue users. GetGlue users will increase the popularity of certain shows by word of mouth or simply liking it on GetGlue page.
However, entering the latin american market is not that easy. There are many local competitors such as the Argentine second-screen startup Comenta.tv and also dealing with the fact that Internet, smartphone and tablet penetration are still limited. Technology might not be as good as the US and especially in rural areas.
