With another partnership, GetGlue has teamed up with the NHL to integrate the “NHL GameCenter 2011-2012” app for the iPhone and iPad to their own platform. Full Article.
As the NHL is now in the Western and Eastern Conference Finals, the time for hockey is NOW. Fans and viewers are on their feet as the four teams (Kings vs Coyotes, and Rangers vs Devils) fight for the last two spots to battle for the Stanley Cup. Who will win? That hasn’t been determined just quite yet. However, one victor that isn’t amongst these teams is GetGlue.
GetGlue is obtaining a competitive advantage over its competitors by creating this new partnership. Users of both GetGlue and the NHL app will be rewarded for just checking-in exclusively from the NHL app into GetgGlue during the playoffs. The gamification of GetGlue, where users are rewarded stickers is going to give GetGlue the opportunity to further expand their brand name and image to its current and new users. Tapping into the NHL will most likely also increase the traffic to GetGlue.
Just as with Storify, it seems that GetGlue is receiving more recognition for becoming the main “TV social media app.” What sports are next? Will the NBA, MLS, and NFL be soon to follow?
