Most of you are already aware with collecting stickers on GetGlue. From our earlier posts, we were able to see how users of GetGlue “earn” stickers by unlocking them. However, now stickers are being sold on eBay!!!
From this new discovery, we can see that some users that collect stickers, do so for the intent to sell them later. If you search on ebay, there are about 100 stickers for sale ranging from $1 to $50! CRAZY!!!
Why is this happening?
From our research, we have read numerous blogs and forums about various GetGlue users asking each other how to unlock specific stickers. Because some stickers maybe difficult or inconvenient to unlock, we believe that it is these stickers that are in high demand for GetGlue sticker collectors.
For those selling the stickers on eBay, they are able to offer these limited time stickers to the users who were unable to unlock them. Take a look at the DoctorWho sticker above. The seller writes this in the description:
“THIS IS A GETGLUE DOCTOR WHO STICKER. THE STICKER IS HARD TO COME BYE AS IT WAS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME. THE STICKER IS IN GREAT CONDITION IT WAS CUT FROM A SHEET BUT IS IN GREAT CONDITION. SHIPPING IS FREE WE SHIP WORLD WIDE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME. THANK YOU.”
Thus, as we can see, GetGlue users are beginning to use GetGlue in new ways. However, questions to think about…is this legal? What does GetGLue think of this? Is this not potential revenue losses to GetGlue because users unlocking these stickers for free are selling them for profits that GetGlue doesn’t get a piece of?
GetGlue is evolving as these smart users are finding new ways to benefit from it…from our prior post about Viggle, maybe GetGlue has nothing to worry about since users of GetGlue seem to have better benefits.
